Self-employment in the Personal Care Sector

An issue which is increasingly being discussed in respect of the Personal Care sector is the growth of self-employment / freelance workers and the gig economy and the effect and impact this may have in the future in regards to skills and education, reputation and standards, tax and revenue etc.

As organisations we have a wide range of anecdotal evidence specific to our industry, which has helped inform discussion to date. However, as interest grows from the Department for Business (BEIS), the Treasury, Parliamentary Groups and Committees and the devolved nations, it would be more credible to be able to provide robust data from across all industries within the sector to help inform any future discussion.

On this basis we have developed the below survey which we are asking member organisations, trade bodies, not-for-profit organisations, interest groups etc. to circulate to those they represent. By putting this out far and wide across our sector we hope to show that we are working together on this issue to fill important gaps in data.

The British Beauty Council will be analysing and sharing the data with all participants should you agree to disseminate the survey to your Members.

The survey is live and will run for the next two weeks, closing on Monday 12 July.
