In the shop it's business as usual and as our new system allows us to send out and receive real time feedback we have been humbled by the increasing positive comments about Savills and our great team. In the past few months however, more and more requests have come in asking us to go that bit further afield and spread our barber love ha ha! The beginning of the year saw us visit Sam's Barbershop in Dublin to deliver a training workshop to a group of passionate barbers. What an awesome shop Sam and his team have, it truly is a work of art. Myself accompanied by my 'partner in training crime' Pete Illingsworth were made to feel massively welcome both in work and out ( the nightlife in Dublin is awesome too!). If you are ever in Dublin, be sure to pay them a visit, I'm sure you will love the place as much as we do. In addition to our ever increasing international visits, we've been blown away by the number of people journeying to the Savills Academy from far and wide. We welcomed a group of crazy Italian barbers who are part of the 'LSF' Italian Barber Squad training team to our Master Barber Course, and guys it was a true pleasure, but when I say crazy, I mean crazy...... they even had matching 'Savills Steel' tattoos whilst they were in Sheffield! The team from Oregon in the USA were also awesome. Cheryl, Ron and Damion from Rogue Barbers on the West Coast were a joy to have in the shop as was Mark Peyton from Nova Scotia, Canada and although they all visited Savills for our high levels of training, it's fair to say that sharing and hearing about best practice from all our international and UK visitors is what we love doing at Savills too. We too learn from these guys.
As if we haven't been busy enough, we also received a call out of the blue in February requesting me to present a piece on ITV's This Morning on ' The Rise of The Barbershop'. It was a massive honour, and I hope that I did the industry proud by showcasing just what our community is all about in terms of standards and the sheer barbering talent that is out there in many barbershops throughout the UK, not to mention the plethora of amazing grooming products that are now available for today's guys.
March is looking like there is going to be no let up on the face of things. Last week we visited the crazy world of the annual Schorem Scumbag Music Festival in Rotterdam and we have just this weekend returned from exhibiting at Pro Hair Live in Manchester. Next weekend myself and Neil Tomlinson will be jetting off to Naples, Italy to deliver a seminar and workshops to an amazing market place in a fabulous setting. We love Italy and yes although this pace of work is tiring, who was it that said 'do what you love and you will never work a day in your life'? Anyway, more updates will be on their way next month......
